Workshops & Teaching
Underpinned by extensive theoretical research and knowledge, in my praxis I am careful to offer students practical, useful and enjoyable sessions that encourage self-reflection and development, and that deal with real issues in real collaborative processes.
All my teaching is suitable for makers of both theatre and dance, and can be tailored for both under and post-graduate levels, as well as, of course, professionals.

"When I think of Lou's teaching two words immediately came to my mind: human and humorous. With these qualities she manages to establish a challenging and invigorating open learning environment in which students feel safe and free to participate and engage, in both theoretical and practical sessions. She has a very student centered approach. By taking the skills, knowledge and experiences of the students as the starting point for learning she encourages them to take responsibility for learning what they need and want to learn. Students say that they very much like Lou's teaching and coaching sessions and that they feel respected and heard. The fact that she can bring her extensive professional experiences into her teaching and coaching is of enormous value for the students."
Caroline Ribbers, MA Choreography Course Leader,
'Lou Cope's workshop was an inspiring and fascinating insight into the world of dramaturgy. It is a field that the dance students at the festival knew very little about and all left the workshop understanding the value of a dramaturg in their practice. I overheard many conversations later that day of offers from students to act as dramaturgs for their peers. Lou's delivery was excellent and the impact of the workshop on the students was 100% positive.'
